ResponsiveFields, developed by Tobi Schneidler and Pablo Miranda, together with the Smart Studio, is an interactive architectural model.
It senses and interprets the occupation of its inhabitants and users of this scaled three dimensional space. A semi-autonomous algorithm is continuously fed by an embedded sensory field, which influences the behaviour of 5000 red agents roaming the digital space.
The process is irreversible and ephemeral. The visualization shows a continuous reference to recent events, but the current is in ongoing flux. The visible memory is programmed to decay over time.
An invisible sediment of recent digital impressions is stored, and influences future behaviour if this responsive space.
The model of the ResponsiveFields is also showing a new interface between classic architectural representation, in the form of scaled models; and functional, full-scale prototypes as used in interaction or industrial design.
This should give the emerging notion of interactive architecture an expression, before it is realized in full scale.
